Our Roots at NatUp: Flax Cultivation

📍 Normandy and Hauts-de-France

Lin de France belongs to the NatUp cooperative, a major player in responsible agriculture in Normandy and its surroundings. Some of NatUp's flax growers cultivate the flax used by Lin de France, adhering to a sustainable and local agricultural model. Thanks to the fertile soil and oceanic climate of our region, we obtain a naturally strong and refined fiber.

🌿 What this means for our products: superior quality flax, lightweight, robust, and pleasant to the touch.

Fibre scutching and preparation: Linière Saint-Martin du Tilleul

📍 Linière Saint-Martin du Tilleul (Normandy)

Before they can be spun, flax fibers go through several essential steps carried out at the Saint-Martin flax mill, owned by NatUp:

✔️ Scutching: separation of long fibers (textile), short fibers (technical), seeds, and shives.

✔️ Combing: refining of long fibers for more softness and regularity.

✔️ Preparation: assembly of several batches of fibers to obtain rovings of homogeneous quality.

These steps are crucial for obtaining flexible, resistant flax suitable for textile uses.

🧵 What this means for our products: Homogeneous, flexible, and resistant flax, ensuring a pleasant feel and perfect drape for our creations.
